Around mid-December, we removed the frost blankets to allow the plants to acclimate to the cold temperatures for the winter - though we keep an eye on the weather and if it gets ultra cold, we’ll re-cover to protect them. Both the berries and the cover crop have grown tremendously this fall under the warmth of the blankets. They’ll be slowly growing for the next several weeks; then as spring approaches, they’ll really increase in size. The cover crop helps keep the soil healthy & decrease erosion. During the picking season, we keep it mowed to make for a pleasant picking experience :-)
