Strawberry Update

The strawberries are really growing well.  The tender blooms are being protected from the elements by the frost blankets.

With the warmer night temperatures, we were able to remove the blankets this weekend.  Good timing because the bumblebees were just delivered today.  They'll be out pollinating away with tomorrow's beautiful weather.  The pallets provide a bit of shade for their hive.

We anticipate the strawberries being ready for picking sometime around mid-April.  We look forward to seeing you then :-)

Time for Frost Blankets!

Hello!  The strawberries will be ready for picking next month here at Browder's Fresh Pickins.  We're protecting these young blooms with frost blankets on these cold nights.

In about a month, this will turn into a ripe strawberry.

Lots of root growth has been happening throughout the winter.

We'll keep you posted on when we'll be opening up for the season, sometime in mid-April, at our Smithfield u-pick strawberry patch.
