We have plenty of ripe strawberries to pick! Along with your berries, come pick a little bit of everything - zucchini, yellow squash, onions, and lettuce - it's hard to beat fresh! The lettuce is winding down for the season, so Friday it'll be on sale for just $1 per head.

We had a lot of fun tonight a pickin' & a jammin' in the patch! We haven't yet posted our weekend hours because we're keeping an eye on the weather (and hoping the forecast improves), but Friday's weather is looking great!

Join us for an evening of music and fun, pickin & jammin in the strawberry patch. We'll host Pasture #3, an old-time music band led by Steve Edwards and the youth who work with him at Mill Swamp Indian Horses. The weather will be perfect, so bring a chair or a blanket and enjoy some time outside in the country. Treat your date to a relaxing night out!

OPEN Thursday, May 16th, 9AM - 8PM! Swing by after dinner and pick you a basket or two of delicious strawberries & enjoy some free music (6PM - 8PM) in the patch too! In addition to strawberries, the zucchini & yellow squash is really producing well now!

📸 Our daughter created this version of strawberry shortcake. We didn't have any whipped cream, but ice cream + Linda Griffin's homemade strawberry syrup tastes amazing! 🤗❤️🍓

It was SO wonderful to see so many of you at the patch this Mother's Day Weekend! After a fantastic weekend of picking, we'll be CLOSED on Monday, May 13th to allow the patch to ripen. We'll be OPEN Tuesday, May 14th, 9AM - 5PM with a patch FULL of ripe berries, plus green onions, lettuce, and zucchini. There may be some yellow squash available for picking by then too!

Many of you have made lots of strawberry jam this season. I love a good PB&J, but if you're looking for another idea to use your strawberry jam, THIS is delicious and deceivingly easy to make!

Strawberry Sopaipilla Cheesecake Bars

-2 (8 oz) bars of cream cheese

-1 ¼ sticks of softened salted butter (divided)

-1 ½ cups sugar (divided)

-2 tsp. vanilla (divided)

-2 tubes refrigerated crescent rolls or sheets

-1/2 tsp cinnamon

-1 cup strawberry jam

1. Preheat oven to 350.

2. Coat 13x9 baking dish with cooking spray.

3. Combine cream cheese and 4 tablespoons butter in large mixing

bowl. Beat at medium speed with mixer until smooth and creamy.

4. Beat in 1 cup of sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla.

5. Unroll 1 package of crescent rolls and spread to the edges of the

baking dish. Squeeze together perforations. Spread cream cheese

mixture of the crescents.

6. Now spread the strawberry jam over the cream cheese mixture so it

is thoroughly covered.

7. Unroll the remaining package of crescents and layer on top. Try to

spread to the edges and ensure the perforations are squeezed

together.

8. In small saucepan, melt the remaining 6 tablespoons of butter. Stir in

the remaining ½ cup of sugar, and remaining 1 tsp vanilla and

cinnamon. When all incorporated, pour evenly over the dough.

9. Bake 30 minutes or until slightly puffed and golden brown. Cool

before cutting into squares.

Looking for something else fun to do when you visit Smithfield this weekend? Grab some lunch from one of our local downtown restaurants, such as Chili Hill on Main Street, & picnic at Windsor Castle Park. They have beautiful walking trails, a fun playground, and you can even rent kayaks! 🌞

This evening, our son made crab cakes for dinner while Jake and I were front porch sitting. Later we shared this Teacher Appreciation Red Velvet Nothing Bundt Cake with some deliciously sweet strawberries. Life is good! 😁

They'll eventually be onions in June, but folks have been wanting them for the green tops (spring onions), so we're going ahead and opening it up for anyone who wants it for the tops.

🌱🌸Bedding Plants = Our greenhouse has vegetable transplants, herbs, & annual flowers, $3 per 4-pack. Bulk Discount = $25 per tray of 4-packs. Each tray holds 12 total 4-packs. We also have 4 inch annual (round containers) and perennial flowers (square containers): $4.84 *Note these are the regular prices, but this weekend, all plants are priced to move!

First gather all your berries, lettuce, zucchini, yellow squash, green onions, and bedding plants. Then pay at the tent when you're ready to head out.

Jake & I just got in from walking the patch this evening and we were pleased to see that the Sweet Charlies & Ruby Junes have bounced back well! All three varieties are delicious & plentiful!
