Workshop on worm composting: Monday, April 14th at 11AM

 

Join us for a pop-up workshop on worm composting at our farm on Monday, April 14th at 11AM!

I recently had the opportunity to participate in Hardy Elementary's STEM night where students learned about the important work that earthworms do, and then they hunted for worms in the soil. We had a blast and invite you and your kids/grandkids to join in the fun! In addition, we'll also be planting some onion sets for anyone who would like to help plant. All ages of kids and adults are welcome, no charge. We'll meet at the picnic tables under the pecan tree.

Our greenhouse and u-pick lettuce will be open all week, Monday-Friday, 9AM - 5PM.

Our blueberry bushes have leafed out nicely this early Spring. We've planted seedless watermelons near our blueberry patch as well as installed the trellis for our cucumbers and our tomatoes. What was once the overflow parking area has been transformed into a pick your own flower bouquet garden. The last few rows in that area have some peppers and tomatoes as well. There's one row that's still empty, and we'll likely plant string beans there. Our zucchini & yellow squash plants are starting to size up nicely. Some of the strawberries are starting to turn a hint of pink.

Lettuce is available for u-pick in our vegetable garden patch. In the greenhouse, there are beautiful flowers, tasty herbs, and scrumptious vegetables ready to be planted in your garden. New this season - onion sets for your garden too! 

 

 

OPEN Thurs, Sat, Sunday - U-Pick Lettuce & Bedding Plants

 

Our pick you own lettuce is ready! We have several different varieties of red & green leaf lettuce, butterhead, and Romaine! It's just inside the deer fence, beside the strawberry patch. Our greenhouse will be OPEN Thursday, April 10th, 9-5. We'll be closed on Friday, and back OPEN this weekend: Saturday 8-5 & Sunday 9-4.

April is here, and it's a great time to get your garden going! We currently have 24 varieties of tomatoes available: German Johnson, Bush Champion, Mountain Fresh, Brandywine, Beef Master (Beefsteak), Better Boy, Early Girl, Super Fantastic, Mr. Stripey, Pink Girl, Park's Whopper Improved CR, Lemon Boy, Big Boy, Goliath, Mortgage Lifter, Rutgers, Juliet Hybrid, Cherokee Purple, Black Krim, Patio, Supersweet 100, Sungold, Large Red Cherry, and La Roma. Nothing tastes quite like a homegrown tomato!

👀 The very first strawberry is ripe in the field! We are thinking it's likely going to be the last third of April by the time we have enough in production to be open for u-pick, but it's always exciting to spot the first ripe berry of the season!

Thank you for an incredible opening weekend in the greenhouse! We're thankful that the rain will be rolling in tomorrow to wash away all this pollen. We'll be CLOSED on Monday, April 7.

Our greenhouse will be OPEN Tuesday - Thursday, 9AM - 5PM. In addition to our greenhouse being open with a wide variety of bedding plants, our lettuce is now ready to be picked! $2 per head, pick-your-own.

Update: The strawberries are looking good and will likely be ready for picking around Easter or later.

Opening Weekend

Wow! What a great opening weekend at the greenhouse! It's been wonderful to see you all! We'll be open today, April 5th until 4PM and tomorrow, Sunday, 9AM - 3PM. The butterflies love these Gerbera Daisies! The geraniums are beautiful in bloom! Loads of different varieties of tomatoes plus straight neck & crookneck yellow squash & so much more. Beautiful day to get some plants in the ground.

It's that time of year! We are opening our greenhouse for the season. We will be OPEN Friday, April 4th, 9AM – 5PM, Saturday, 8AM - 4PM, and Sunday 9AM-3PM. Our greenhouse is bursting with hundreds of flats of bedding plants - flowers, herbs, and vegetable transplants. Now is a great time to get your landscape, garden, raised bed, or herb bowl planted. Come early for maximum selection.

The strawberries are continuing to ripen each day...we’ll keep you posted on their progress
