Greenhouse & Strawberry Patch OPEN Sunday, April 9th, 1PM - 5PM

We just came in from the greenhouse & strawberry patch - things are looking pretty good! Both the strawberry patch and the greenhouse will be OPEN Easter Sunday, 1PM - 5PM. 

 

We have a wide variety of plants in the greenhouse, including:

Herbs - Basil (two types), Sage, Dill, Oregano, Parsley (curly & flat leaf), Thyme, Catnip, Stevia, Chives, Spearmint, Peppermint, & more

Annual Flowers - Dahlia (pictured here), Vinca, Petunia, Begonia, Celosia, Verbena, Ageratum, Zinnia, & more

For your Garden - Cucumbers, Yellow Squash (crookneck & straight neck), Zucchini (green & yellow), Peppers (chili, sweet, bell, banana, habanero), Tomatoes (slicing, patio, Roma, cherry), Eggplant, Okra & more

Perennial Flowers - over 15 different varieties of flowers that'll come back year after year.

Greenhouse & Strawberry Patch CLOSED Saturday, April 8

 

With this chilly, rainy weather, not many berries ripened in the strawberry patch today. Looks like more rain and wind tomorrow, so both the patch and the greenhouse will be CLOSED Saturday, April 8. We'll evaluate the patch tomorrow evening & let you know when the next time we'll be open. Although the berries don't like this weather, our lettuce sure does! Some of you may have seen this row on the edge of the strawberry patch. It should be ready for u-pick in a week or two.

Strawberry Patch & Greenhouse Closed on Friday, April 7th

It's been great to see so many of you at the strawberry patch over the past 3 days! The patch is currently picked out and we'll be closed on Friday to allow more berries to ripen. The greenhouse will also be closed on Friday due to weather. Once the storm passes, we'll evaluate the patch and determine the next time we'll be open. As soon as we know, we'll post it here on Facebook & Instagram

The mild winter allowed this Dianthus in our flower bed to overwinter nicely. This came from our greenhouse from last year. Our Dusty Miller is also going strong too. Anyone else have any annuals come back this year?

 

 

OPEN Thursday, April 6th, 8AM - Noon

Our u-pick strawberry patch will be OPEN Thursday, April 6th, 8AM - Noon . The sun really ripened them up nicely today! There are plenty of red juicy berries in the patch. Tonight after work, I picked a basket in less than 10 minutes on one row. Pro tip: start at the back of the patch and work your way towards the front. We grow 5 different varieties on 49 rows, each 300 feet long. If you ever happen to be in an area that doesn't seem to have many ripe ones, try a different different row

 

Our greenhouse will also be open on Thursday morning. It's a great time to get your plants in the ground before the rain comes in on Friday & Saturday.

OPEN Wednesday, April 5th 8AM - 5PM

 What a beautiful day! The warm sun from today has ripened lots of berries. The patch is currently loaded with ripe juicy strawberries. With tomorrow's warm forecast, even more will ripen! Therefore, we will be OPEN Wednesday, April 5th, from 8AM - 5PM for u-pick strawberries. Our greenhouse will also be open with lots of bedding plants available!

Patch = Picked Out; Greenhouse OPEN

Thank you to everyone who came out to pick berries and get bedding plants! It was an incredible opening day, especially considering it's only March. Today the 🍓 patch was picked clean and will need some time for more to ripen. We'll monitor the patch daily, we'll post our next open hours for picking here on Facebook & Instagram. Although the strawberry patch will be closed this weekend, our greenhouse will be OPEN Saturday & Sunday 8AM - 3PM. We have a wide variety of bedding plants - tons of annual flowers, cool season crops such as lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, mustard; many vegetables including tomatoes, cucumbers, squash & lots of herbs including basil, cilantro, and parsley. New this year, 18+ types of perennial flowers - they'll come back each year.

Opening Weekend at Browder's Fresh Pickins

 

 

 

These are the first two baskets of the season – great size and amazingly sweet!  We’ll be opening the strawberry patch for early picking this Friday, March 31 at Noon.  We’ll also have bedding plants available in the greenhouse.  We’ll be open Fri: Noon – 6; Sat: 8AM – 6PM, and Sunday 8AM – 6PM.  Of course, it's still very early in the season, so the strawberry patch will likely get picked out at some point, but we’ll stay open for bedding plant sales.  Looking forward to seeing you soon at 14489 Bethel Church Lane, Smithfield. 
