It's PRODUCE Time!
During the month of May, we've harvested banana peppers, beets, broccoli, cucmbers, green bell peppers, lettuce, raddishes, swiss chard, yellow squash, and zucchini. We are looking forward to soon harvesting our sun gold cherry tomatoes - can't wait!
The heat made it so we had to harvest all of our broccoli all within about a week. We sold most of it, but saved some to freeze. That'll be delcious for the months to come. We'll plant some more in the fall, once it cools off.
Everything tastes better with a little fresh basil chopped up in it! We sold out of our basil we took to the farmer's market last week, but we'll just stepped up some into quart pots, and they're really taking off now. As soon as that root ball forms, we'll have more for sale.
My personal favorite of our garden by far is the zucchini! We like to pick it when it's still pretty small, and the flavor is just amazing, especially on the grill!
We've got cucumbers planted on three different trellises in the yard, and they really booming into production now. We have two different varieties - Dasher II, which is a delicious slicing cucumber & National Pickling Cucumbers, which are smaller and better suited for making pickles.
We're looking forward to even more production from our garden.
