Collards Closed for the Season

Thanks so much for a wonderful collard season!  Now it's time to plant that area in a winter cover crop to restore some nutrients to the soil in preparation for the next food crop.  We truly appreciate all the support you've given us throughout the year!  

SALE U-Pick Collards $1/head

We've had A LOT of folks come pick collards this weekend - thank you! There are still a few hundred collards in the field, but they tend to be a bit smaller. Because of that, we're reducing the price to $1/head.

We're at 14489 Bethel Church Lane, Smithfield, VA 23430. We're open 7AM - 5PM, daily, while supplies last. We hope you have a fantastic Thanksgiving!

Also, shout out to Chili Hill Foods & Farm! Our good friends Tim and Akkhara recently opened a new food market on Main Street beside the post office in Smithfield. Their shop includes Asian grocery, fresh produce, and Grab & Go Thai food similar to what they do at the farmers market each week. Check out their delicious 5 Spice Braised Pork with fresh collards from our farm. YUM!

Open Daily for U-Pick Collards starting Thursday, Veteran's Day 7AM - 5PM

Our u-pick collard patch will be OPEN this Thursday, November 11th from 7AM - 5PM.  Collards are 10 heads for $20.  Each bag can hold 10 collards, simply cut off the entire plant at the base.  All collards are clean and grit free because they were grown on black plastic (same spot as the strawberries earlier this year).  We'll have hand sanitizer and some cutting tools and bags available.  You're welcome to bring your own cutting tools and/or bags, if you'd like.  If you don't need 10 heads, consider donating some to a neighbor or a friend in need.  If you want less than 10 heads, it's $2/head.  After you cut your collards, simply drop your cash/check made out to Browder's Fresh Pickins into the black box near the gate.  Starting on Thursday, Nov 11th, we'll be open for u-pick collards 7 days a week, 7AM - 5PM.  We're at 14489 Bethel Church Lane, Smithfield, VA 23430.
